Wacken Open Air (WOA) is the world’s largest open-air heavy metal festival, held every summer in the small village of Wacken, northern Germany. Founded in 1990, it has grown from a local event into a global pilgrimage for metalheads, welcoming 85,000 fans annually.
Known for its legendary lineup, epic stage productions, and unique atmosphere, Wacken unites metal fans from all over the world across genres—from classic heavy metal to death, black, folk, and everything in between. More than just a festival, Wacken is a celebration of the global metal community.
