Montreux Jazz Festival
Festival annuel | Heavy Metal, Rock , Chanson Française, Jazz, Blues, Pop, Divers
The Montreux Jazz Festival takes place for two weeks every summer in Switzerland, on the shores of Lake Geneva. Founded in 1967 by Claude Nobs and directed since 2013 by Mathieu Jaton, the Montreux Jazz Festival has become over the years an unmissable event, generating stories and legendary performances.
Since 1967, the Montreux Jazz Festival has hosted historic performances by Nina Simone, Miles Davis, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Leonard Cohen, David Bowie, Elton John and Stevie Wonder. Deep Purple and Prince even helped write the legend of the place in their songs, while David Bowie and Freddie Mercury came to live in the area and record albums.
If jazz and blues are at the origin of the event, other music styles have quickly found their place. More recently, Muse, Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams, Ed Sheeran, Alicia Keys, Adele, Lady Gaga, Tyler The Creator, Lizzo or Rita Ora have played in Montreux and honored the legends that preceded them.
