CBGB

Bar, Club | Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Punk, Punk Rock | Cap. 350p

CBGB (or CB's) was a club located at No. 315 on the Bowery in Manhattan, New York. Its full name was CBGB [&] OMFUG, short for “Country, Bluegrass, Blues and Other Music For Uplifting Gormandizers”.

“And gourmandizers are voracious devourers, in our case of music,” according to club owner Hilly Kristal.

CBGB prides itself on being the “Home of underground rock”. This title is an exaggeration, since underground rock was not born in a single place, but CBGB's contribution is undeniable and considerable.
