Winger is an American heavy metal band from New York. It was a great commercial success from 1988 until the explosion of the grunge wave in 1991. The band was originally supposed to be called Sahara but was urgently renamed Winger only a few days before the release of the first album, the name Sahara being a trademark of another band.
Classified in the glam metal category that swept the United States in the late 1980s. After breaking up in 1993, the band reformed in 2006.
