Story

Journey is an American rock band founded in 1973 in San Francisco around Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie, former musicians of the band Santana. The peak of its commercial success was between 1978 and 1987, after which the band temporarily split up. The group then reformed in the 1990s with a succession of singers.

During the 1978-1987 period, Journey released a string of hits, including Don't Stop Believin' (1981), which in 2009 became the best-selling song on the iTunes Store. Escape, the studio album on which the track appears, is the band's eighth and most successful album. It reached number one on the Billboard 200 and features another popular single, Open Arms. The next album, Frontiers (1983), was almost as successful in the U.S., reaching #2 on the Billboard 200 with several successful singles; it expanded the band's fame in the U.K., where it reached #6 on the UK Albums Chart.

In total, the band has two gold records, eight multi-platinum albums (seven consecutive albums between 1978 and 1987) and one diamond record. Eighteen of their singles were Top 40 Mainstream singles in the U.S., of which six reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and two reached #1.
