Story
Avriel "Avi" Benjamin Kaplan, born April 17, 1989, is an American singer and songwriter. A former member of the a cappella group Pentatonix, he is known for his deep, gravelly voice, and has often played the role of Pentatonix's vocal bass. In May 2017, Kaplan announced that he would be leaving Pentatonix after their upcoming tour.
At the time of his departure from Pentatonix, Avi Kaplan launched his solo folk music project, under the name "Avriel & the Sequoias," in which, in addition to singing, he also plays guitar. The first song under this name, Fields and Pier, was released on April 29; and his first EP, Sage and Stone , was released on June 9, 2017. His first song under the name Avi Kaplan, Change on the Rise , was also released on March 22, 2019.
