Story
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart or Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart, born January 27, 1756 in Salzburg (Archiepiscopal Principality of Salzburg) and died December 5, 1791 in Vienna, was an Austrian composer of the Classical period. He is considered one of the greatest composers in the history of European music. Along with Joseph Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven, he brought the Viennese classical school to its apogee.
A child prodigy and precocious composer, he performed in public from the age of seven throughout Europe, where he captivated audiences with his sister Maria Anna. He died at the age of thirty-five, leaving a considerable body of work (893 works are listed in the Köchel catalog).
According to his contemporaries, he was a virtuoso on both piano and violin. He wrote in all the musical genres of his time, and excelled in all of them. It is generally acknowledged that he brought the concerto, symphony and sonata to a point of perfection, and that he was one of the greatest masters of opera.
His success has never waned, and his name has become synonymous with talent, if not precocious genius.
